Growing up in upstate New York, being active was second nature to me. With winters full of skiing, ice fishing, and summers spent swimming and boating on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, my childhood was built around the outdoors. My father, a state champion wrestler and semi-pro football player, instilled a love of sports and a tireless work ethic. Hunting, fishing, and my growing their own food were part of life being raised on a farm, knowledge my father shared.—important lessons I now pass on to my kids.
Teaching my childreniour fmilyn how to hunt and prepare their harvests has become a valuable tradition. Hunters often make great cooks because they care deeply about the quality of the meat they’re processing. Venison, for example, is extremely lean, high in protein, and so good for us. Wanting to teach my kids about nature, conservation,, health, fitness, and susntainable huntin not only teaches them about food but also instills respect for nature and self-sufficiency.

Being an active dad goes beyond just physical fitness; it encompasses a holistic approach to health and well-being for my children. I believe that setting a good example is crucial, which is why I not only focus on staying fit but also on educating my kids about nutrition and the importance of nourishing their bodies with wholesome meals. Our family activities extend beyond the gym - from spending quality time at Waergins Gym in Virginia Beach to collaborating in the kitchen to prepare nutritious meals together. Moreover, we have taken a step further by cultivating our own food, instilling in my children the value of self-sustainability and a deeper connection to nature.
This lifestyle that we have embraced is rooted in promoting overall wellness, strengthening family bonds, and fostering a love for learning through outdoor experiences. By engaging in these activities, I aim to show my kids the significance of leading a balanced life that prioritizes health, togetherness, and the wonders of the natural world. Through our shared endeavors, I hope to instill in them lifelong habits that will contribute to their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
